A Senior Manager , Banking Operations is responsible for a variety of banking operational processes, programs, and procedures. This includes overseeing the processing of transactions, maintaining account records, and ensuring compliance with all Cayman legislation and banking regulations.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and manage all activities for the banking operations as they relate to Deposit Operations, Cash Management, and Bank Processing.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date account records for customers.
- Design and implement department-wide appropriate policies, procedures, controls operational standards and performance goals.
- Ensure the department have (and maintain) appropriate policies, procedures, and controls addressing applicable laws, regulations, rules, and industry best practices and monitoring adherence with such policies, procedures, and controls.
- Ensure that the Banking team compiles with all established procedures and policies adopted by the Board of Directors and or required by CIMA.
- Lead compliance testing to (i) identify high risk areas within corporate functions, (ii) develop effective testing methodologies, (iii) complete testing reviews in a timely manner, and (iv) prepare clear and accurate test results with actionable recommendations.
- Lead reviews and investigations of potential violations or breaches of applicable laws, regulation or internal policies involving corporate functions, including assisting with the identification of root causes and the development and implementation of remediation plans.
- Lead strategic plans as aligned with company goals, and guide supporting initiatives to grow profits and maintain client and employee satisfaction.
- Foster a collaborative work environment that promotes, open, candid, and direct communication that positively impacts results.
- Lead change initiative through team by timely communication of essential business decisions, impacting department standards, and employee job responsibilities.
- Analyze business needs, highlight processes to meet expectations including gaps, and recommend opportunities for continued improvement.
- Monitor the bank’s financial performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Design and develop relevant financial and non-financial reports for the board of directors.
- Contribute towards the bank’s financial targets and the revenue/profitability.
- Maintain awareness of general banking laws, regulations and programs that will impact current processes and make mid-course corrections as needed and/or implement new policies.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of banking software systems and payment services providers such as SWIFT
- Transact international transfers using the SWIFT messaging system.
- Maintain a good relationship with correspondent service providers.
- Assure compliance with all Cayman legislation and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or equivalent degree (MBA is a plus).
- Completed accounting qualification either (ACCA, ACA, CPA or relevant qualification).
- Completed Anti-Money Laundering certification either (CAMS or relevant qualification).
- 10+ years of professional experience in the financial industry.
- 5+ years of banking experience with at least 3 years of senior management experience.
- Strong knowledge of Basel II and Basel III standards.
- Relevant compliance experience, including policies and procedures development, the provision of compliance training, compliance risk assessments, responding to regulatory inquiries.
- Strong organizational, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills required.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills and demonstrated ability to operate at a strategic level.
